The staple food of the Nepalese population, especially countryside is the valuable Urd bean, also known as lentil bean or black dal. We want to offer you this wonderful food, which grows free of environmentally harmful substances in the Himalaya. With the export you would generate additional income and thus secure the existence of the cooperative. The cooperative puts a lot of heart and sweat into the cultivation of their fields every day and defies the adverse circumstances, which are still reverberating from the earthquake in 2015.

Why black dal?

Legumes are indispensable for a plant-based diet and for lovers of Indian cuisine.

Black dal is a real power pack, because it is low in calories, can have a favorable effect on blood sugar levels and, in addition to valuable protein, also provides satiating carbohydrates and important fiber.

Your support creates perspectives

After the earthquake in 2015, the cooperative is slowly finding its way back to normality thanks to the support of many people showing solidarity.

The people at the foot of the Himalayas are very dependent on the weather and nature. Crop failures due to excessive rain, snow and cold or due to pests are unpredictable. The region is also not immune to further earthquakes.

Together with you, we want to offer the farmers the possibility to build up a certain basic protection against such events, because at the moment they live from day to day.

With the purchase of a dal package you help us to realize a first export. Through this we want to gain access to the European market in order to provide a secure and dignified income for the farmers in Nepal.

What is swiss sustainable education society / Cocina Mitho Chha?

The swiss-ses is an association based in Switzerland, which supports disadvantaged people in developing and emerging countries in the field of education. The sustainable partner project Cocina Mitho Chha in Nepal is our heart project. Together with our partner Debendra Pokharel, who has built up the organization on site, we have founded the Peepalbot farmers' cooperative near Gorkha.

Debendra is originally from Gorkha. During the earthquake, he provided the farmers with building materials. We supported this reconstruction privately with donations.

The swiss-ses and Debendra have developed a deep friendship since the devastating earthquake, where two of the founding members were on site. In addition to regular exchanges, we try to help people help themselves in various projects. It is important to us that all donations are used for the intended purpose and invested sustainably.

Swiss ses trains young people locally in the gastronomy sector, for example as baristas. In this way, we enable them to earn a decent income in the tourism industry, for example.
