Cherries

Dried Cherries

Pakistan - organic

Cherries grow high up in the Karakoram Mountains in northern Pakistan. Strong western winds bring abundant precipitation in winter and spring. This harsh climate gives the cherries a tart, intense aroma that is concentrated when the fruit is dried and is vaguely reminiscent of cranberries. The cherries are pitted, but a few may still have a pit in them.

Jahangir ShahFARMER FROM PAKISTAN
The size and colour of our almonds can vary. We cultivate more than 40 varieties.

The Mountain Fruits Company was founded by Sher Gazi in 2000. To this day, it is still the only Pakistani company to process and export dried fruits, nuts and nut oils that are certified organic and fair trade. Originally a development project by the Aga Khan Foundation, the company stayed true to its original mission: to improve and increase the income and opportunities of farming groups. We have been working alongside Mountain Fruits for over a decade.
